Just when you're driving along, minding your own business...

...some idiot decides to smash into you. That's what happened to us on Saturday afternoon. We were on our way to meet our friends at a carnival in Milford when it happened. We were driving straight on the road in front of Caleigh and Jacob's school when all of a sudden this guy driving a pick-up truck in the opposite direction decides he's going to turn left into his driveway. Problem is, we're directly in front of his driveway. He completely didn't see us! He must have really been in laa-laa land to have not seen a big green minivan RIGHT THERE in front of him! It turns out that he is a Milford cop who had just finished work and was on his way home. The good thing is that nobody was hurt. Dan banged his head on the door frame on impact and had a headache for the rest of the day (there was no bump or even a red mark so it wasn't serious). The kids were really shaken up though. They were all crying. Jacob was the most upset. The car however, was seriously hurt. It had to be towed away. We ended up waiting over 15 minutes for the police to show up after one of the neighbors called 911. Good thing nobody was seriously hurt! Finally they showed up and took everybody's information, wrote up their report, took pictures and called a tow truck for our car. The other guy's truck was smashed up too. He just had it towed into his garage though.

When it was all over with, the guy who hit us drove Dan home in his wife's car so he could get our other car. Dan picked us all up in the other car and we continued on our way to the carnival in hopes of still meeting up with our friends. We made it there safely, but two and a half hours late. Our friends were still there, but had to leave soon after we got there to go home to let their new puppy out. We stayed at the carnival for about an hour so the kids could go on a few rides, then headed over to our friends' house for a late dinner.
